The player controls the character and can move around the world to complete the mind-bending puzzles and progress through the game. There are a variety of handmade levels where everything was made up of cardboard, paper, glue, motors and miniature lights. The player as Lume sets out himself on a mission to navigate the city and figure out the brilliant mechanism that supplies the power this unique environment. According to the story, the grandfather of the player, who is a caretaker of the Lumino City has been abducted.
